| Possible Causes | Things to Do |
| Insufficient time allowed for MLs to communicate with each other | It is important to understand that MLs communicate with each other and with the ML Transmitters. Sufficient time must be allowed between remote commands for the MLs and transmitters to send, receive and acknowledge each command. Without an active transmitter, you need to allow 3 seconds for the MLs to communicate with each other. With an active transmitter present you must allow at least 6 seconds for the devices to communicate. |
| Different house code on Transmitter and MusicLites | Verify that the House Code configuration on the MusicLites and Transmitter are the same. House Code is set by rotating a 10 position switch on the rear of the ML housing or remote case using the provided mini-screwdriver. The factory default setting is 0. |
| Different Zone code on Transmitter and MusicLites | Verify that the Zone Code configuration on the MusicLites and Transmitter are the same. Zone is set on the ML by rotating a 5 position switch on the rear of the ML housing using the provided mini-screwdriver. The default factory setting is 1. On your remote press the Zone button corresponding to the setting on your ML. |
| Different source code on Transmitter and MusicLites | Verify that the Source Code configuration on the MusicLites and Transmitter are the same. Transmitter source is selected by sliding the 3 position switch on the side of the housing to position 1, 2 or 3. The default factory setting is 1. On your remote press the Source button corresponding to the setting on your Transmitter. |
| ML out of sync with transmitter | Power down ML at wall switch. Wait 5 seconds. Repower ML. |
| ML out of sync with transmitter | Reset the ML. Aim your remote at a specific ML, press and hold Z5 for 5 seconds, release Z5 and press Z4, Z3, Z2 and Z1. This will send a code to your ML to reset it to the factory default settings of 100% LED, 50% Audio and Source 1. Repeat this process for each ML to bring them all back to the factory default setting. Return to the programming process described in your ML User's Manual. |
| Battery low on Apple Transmitter | Recharge battery in Apple transmitter for the recommended time. |
| MusicLites out of range of Transmitter | Relocate ML or transmitter to within acceptable range. 180' (55m) max line-of-sight, 50' (15m) max through walls. |
| Radio frequency (RF) interference from nearby devices such as cordless phone and Bluetooth devices | Try putting distance between the two transmitting devices. If need be, remove interfering devices from the room. |
| Second set of MusicLites in local vicinity on the same house code | Change house code on MusicLites and Transmitters. |
| Two transmitters too close to each other | Must maintain a minimum of 12" distance between MusicLites transmitters. |
| Second transmitter operating on same house code, zone and source code. | Turn off or reprogram second transmitter to operate with another set of ML. |
| Wireless Router running on 2.4GHz interfering with ML Sources. | IMPORTANT NOTE: If you operate a 2.4GHz wireless router in the vicinity of MLs you must consider the router a source. Due to FCC regulations it is not possible to operate more than three 2.4GHz devices without experiencing some cross-device interference. It may be necessary to limit your ML setup to 2 sources while your router is in operation. It also may be possible to switch your wireless router to another of the 11 possible 2.4GHz channels. Consult your wireless router manual for instructions. |

| Source muted | Unmute source device |
| ML muted | Unmute ML by pressing mute button on remote |
| Mini jack plugged into microphone port | Relocate mini jack to headphone port |
| Audio level too low on source device | Increase volume of source device to max. Control ML volume with remote. |
| Transmitter plugged into an inactive USB port on a docking station or monitor | Assure that your USB port is powered and has audio capability. Try another USB port that is located directly on your PC. |
| Two transmitters too close to each other | Must maintain a minimum of 12" distance between MusicLites transmitters. |
| MusicLites turned off at Remote | Press Light On/Off button on remote. |
| Over temperature condition | ML has been designed to be protected from internal temperature in excess of 130°F (55°C). ML will gradually reduce the LED light output level until a safe temperature has been restored. If temperature cannot be controlled in this manner the ML will shut off completely. Once temperature has dropped to an acceptable level you can restart the ML by pressing the LED (+) button. |
| Battery door inserted upside down during battery replacement | Very carefully use a small thin tool to reach in the battery tray opening and lift the battery back up into the tray while sliding out the battery tray. Invert the tray and install the battery correctly as directed in the user's manual. |
| Inadvertently set your ML to the factory test mode | Through a complex series of remote commands it is possible that you have inadvertently placed your ML into the factory diagnostic mode. In this mode the ML goes to 100% Audio and light and ignores any commands from the remote. Simply turn off the power to the ML to return to normal function. |

| Remote control beyond range of MusicLites. | The remote control for MusicLites is infrared (IR) based and is limited to line of sight operation. Range is similar to what you would expect for a TV set remote, roughly 15 to 25 feet. |
| Remote control not at proper angle for MusicLites to "see" it. | The antenna for the remote control for MusicLites is infrared (IR) based and is located just under the lens. Be certain that you are aiming the remote at the lens of the ML and not from the side and at the metal housing. |
| Not allowing time for the ML to respond to commands. | Your MusicLites is designed with a unique programming feature called Back Channel Communication. When you send a command to the MusicLites from the remote the closest ML receives and processes the signal, sends it to the other MLs in the zone and waits for acknowledgement that they are in sync. When that process is completed the ML is ready to accept the next command from the remote. This process does not take long but may last up to 3 seconds. |
| Dead battery in remote | Replace CR2025 coin type battery in your remote. |
| MusicLites out of sync | Turn power off to the MusicLites at the wall switch. Wait 30 seconds and repower. |
| IR Signal Reflecting away from ML | Be sure to direct the remote towards the ML. Aiming the remote at a reflective metal surface, such as a fluorescent lamp fixture, may miss-direct the IR signal and cause unexpected ML behavior. |
| All Zone "AZ" button pressed and moved to a different source area | The All Zone (AZ) feature on the ML remote is source dependant. If you are in range of multiple zones and press the AZ button, all MLs operating from a common source will now be in your control, regardless of prior zone setting. If you move to another area where MLs are playing from a different source you will need to repeat the process to gain All Zone control of that source. |
| The Sound Utility might not active (Apple PC). | After you place the USB transmitter in the MAC USB port, you must use the SOUND utility inside the SYSTEM PREFERENCES and click on the USB headset (pops up when you put the transmitter in) to make the speakers receive the transmission. |
| Wrong Audio Port | If connecting to a PC through the headphone port be certain you have not plugged the mini cable into an adjacent port, such as the microphone. |
| PC speakers are configured as the default sound device | With the USB transmitter installed, right click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select Playback Devices. In the “Sound” dialog box left click (once) on “Speakers – USB Headset” and click the ‘Set Default’ radio button at the bottom of the dialog box (the big green check mark should move to the USB Headset), click ‘OK’. |
| MusicLites out of sync | Turn power off to the MusicLites at the wall switch. Wait 30 seconds and repower. |
